Discover the art of Ikebana in London in this thoughtful floral arrangement workshop. Originating in China as an offering to Buddha and later refined in Japan from the 6th century onwards, Ikebana has evolved into a deeply symbolic art form that values seasonality, simplicity, and the relationship between natural elements. More than floral design, it is a creative practice rooted in reflection and well-being.
This class is perfect for beginners. You’ll be gently guided through the process in a supportive, welcoming environment, with clear instruction and plenty of time to explore the materials. The focus is on understanding the principles behind Ikebana rather than achieving perfection, making it accessible and rewarding for everyone.
What to expect:
  • An introduction to the history, philosophy, and symbolism of Ikebana.
  • Guidance on selecting and arranging flowers, leaves, and branches.
  • Learn how to create balance, harmony, and flow through line.
  • Work with a vase and kenzan (metal pin base), both provided.
  • Expert tuition from renowned floral artist and Ikebanist Frankie Flood.
  • The opportunity to take home the natural materials used.
  • Optional purchase of your own kenzan at the end of the session.
You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of Ikebana, a new way of perceiving floral arrangement, and the confidence to approach flowers with intention and sensitivity. This workshop offers a meaningful creative experience that stays with you, opening up a more mindful and expressive relationship with nature and design.
